Trustee Douglas Raul Williams
Personal Note
My family and I are 20-year residents of the village of Hainesville. When we started looking for a house in the northern suburbs, we looked at several communities and fell in love with Hainesville, because of the beautiful wetlands that encompass the village and the Cranberry Lake Conservancy. We have grown to call Hainesville our home and would like to help preserve its natural beauty and history as the oldest village in Lake County.
I served in the United States Air Force Reserves as a Security Specialist and the Army Reserves in the Military Police. I am a member of the American Legion Post 1170 Round Lake Park. Currently, I work with the Office of Community Engagement and Neighborhood Health Partnerships at the University of Illinois Chicago. I have an undergraduate degree in Health Care Management and a Master’s in Health Administration (MHA), from Southern Illinois University (SIU). I work as a Nutrition Educator and co-leader of our Social Determinants of Health and Racial Equity Task Forces. This has exposed me to school-based health clinics, their importance in serving medically underserved populations, and how grants fund many community health initiatives. I enjoy health promotion and prevention allowing people to control their health and lives.
My 20 years in the community have allowed me to serve in the Round Lake Consolidated School District School Board, Round Lake Educational Foundation, and as Avon Township Trustee. These positions have allowed me to impact the future of our school children and help provide services to our families and seniors of Avon Township.
I decided to run for Trustee because Hainesville is at a point where it needs to decide which direction it will take in the future. My life experiences will help me to work with all the residents and Hainesville Board, to implement our comprehensive plan and create a road map for the future of our village, by maintaining and investing in our wetlands and open spaces, ensuring smart economic planning, and giving a voice to our neighbors and families to create a united Hainesville.
