How do I get rid of yard waste?
Yard waste may be disposed of in yard waste bags, containers, or bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length, and 18 inches in diameter and under 50 pounds. Hainesville’s yard waste collection program requires the use of a prepaid sticker on all bags, containers, or bundles of yard waste. Yard waste material that is not properly prepared or that does not have a prepaid sticker attached will not be collected.

Where can I buy prepaid yard waste stickers?
Prepaid yard waste stickers can be purchased at the Village Hall, Ace Hardware Homecenter on Rte. 134 in Round Lake, Ace Hardware on Rte. 120 in Grayslake and at 7-Eleven at Rte.120 & Rte. 134. When purchasing yard waste stickers at Ace Hardware, please specify that you are from Hainesville and need Veolia stickers.

How do I prepare yard waste?
Grass clippings and leaves should be placed at the curb in a biodegradable bag or your own container. Yard waste bags can be purchased at a local hardware and grocery stores. If using your own container, you must also purchase a decal from the village to place on the container. Both the prepaid sticker and the “Yard Waste” decal must face the street for easy identification by collection service staff.

In what months is yard waste collected?
Properly prepared yard waste, branches, and brush will be collected from the curb on your regularly scheduled collection day from April 1 through November 30.

How should brush and branches be prepared?
All branches and brush must be tied in bundles no larger than 4 feet long and 18 inches around, and must weigh less than 50 pounds. Do not use wire to tie bundles. An unlimited number of bundles may be set out at the curb for pickup on your assigned waste collection day with the appropriate stickers attached.

Tree trunks and large branches over 3″ in diameter are not considered yard waste. Contact a tree cutting service to arrange a special pickup of these items.
